Marginalia has unveiled the final piece of its Save Me Remix Album, with label founder ELIF stepping in to rework Liminal MX’s ‚Fast Line.‘ The seven-track project reimagines the Mexican producer’s debut album, which the Barcelona-based imprint released in December 2024 as its first-ever long-player and sixteenth release overall.
The backstory adds considerable weight to the release. Two years ago, ELIF signed a then-teenage producer from Guadalajara on instinct rather than metrics or momentum. That decision has since become one of Marginalia’s defining moves, and the remix album draws together seven artists — each carrying a genuine connection to the label, to ELIF, or to Liminal MX himself — to revisit the record from fresh angles.
ELIF’s own contribution came about in characteristically selfless fashion. So attached to the album that she could not single out a favourite track, she offered first pick to her fellow remixers and accepted whichever remained. That turned out to be ‚Fast Line.‘ Working with music she already loves and plays in her sets presented its own challenges, but her solution was precise: preserve the original’s melancholic vocals as closely as possible while introducing the glitchy textures she has been gravitating toward, pushing the result into deeper, more dancefloor-oriented territory without abandoning the emotional core of the source material.
Beyond Marginalia, ELIF’s profile continues to expand rapidly. Her catalogue spans Anjunadeep, Get Physical, and Frau Blau, with forthcoming releases confirmed for Keinemusik’s VOD, LP Giobbi’s Yes, Damian Lazarus’s Crosstown Rebels, and Sasha’s Last Night On Earth. Her live schedule has taken her through Tomorrowland, Hi Ibiza, Coachella, and Fabric London. Her role on this remix album, however, sits at the intersection of all her relationships with the project — as Marginalia’s founder, as Liminal MX’s manager, and as his mentor.
Liminal MX, now twenty years old, has made significant strides since his debut. He has warmed up a sold-out Marginalia showcase in Mexico City, released music through Borders of Light and Kiosk ID, and taken on A&R responsibilities at the label that first gave him a platform. The Save Me Remix Album also signals a new visual chapter for Marginalia, the label’s third distinct aesthetic direction since its founding in 2023.
The full premiere of ‚Fast Line‘ is streaming now exclusively on When We Dip Radio.
