David Crow is moving into a new phase of his career under the Ghastly name, and the first standalone single of his comeback makes that shift explicit. “Night Raid” arrives as the most direct statement yet of where the project is headed, drawing on the bass house foundations that established Ghastly while incorporating elements that reflect years of production development since the project’s initial run.
The track is built around driving basslines, vocal-driven momentum, and a peak-time energy calibrated for festival stages. A recognizable vocal sample opens the record before rap-infused passages carry the arrangement into a locked groove designed for large-scale dancefloors. Crow balances accessibility with impact throughout, producing something that functions across both club systems and outdoor festival environments.
Crow described the single in direct terms: “‘Night Raid’ is a 4-year awaited return to form for the Ghastly banner — a middle finger approach to the idea of genres. A mixture of bass house, trap, and opera while blossoming with clever sampling and unique sound design paired with hyper-detailed composition and just a pinch of ADHD. The song itself doesn’t play by the current rules of dance music; it is a brave step in the direction of radical self-expression, beautiful and chaotic all in the same breath.”
The release follows DOPAMINE MACHINE VOL. 1, a mix project earlier this year that introduced the direction of the revived Ghastly through originals, edits, and unreleased material. That project positioned the comeback as forward-looking rather than purely nostalgic, and “Night Raid” continues along the same line. Crow has also operated under the GHENGAR alias, which has allowed him to explore heavier electronic territory — experience that appears to be informing the updated Ghastly sound without overtaking it.
Upcoming performances at Lost Lands and Bass Canyon will mark significant moments in the revival, giving audiences their first opportunity to hear the new material in a live context. Both festivals represent major platforms within the bass music world, and the shows are expected to function as key milestones as the project builds momentum through the remainder of 2026.
“Night Raid” is available now. With festival appearances confirmed and further material presumably in development, Ghastly’s return appears to be building toward something more sustained than a one-off reactivation.
