Australian festival promoter Bizarro has announced the full lineups for three electronic music festivals taking place across the East Coast in October 2026: Overtone, Freeform, and Mode. The events will be held across consecutive days, with Overtone at Musgrave Park in Gold Coast/Kombumerri on Friday 2 October, Freeform at Sidney Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne/Naarm on Saturday 3 October, and Mode at Cockatoo Island/Wareamah in Sydney/Eora on Sunday 4 October — the latter timed to coincide with the city’s Labour Day long weekend.
Three headliners anchor the collective billing. Edinburgh-born, London-based producer Barry Can’t Swim will perform in DJ format, bringing the jazz-inflected dance sound behind his debut album When Will We Land? — which has surpassed 100 million streams — and his 2025 follow-up Loner. Northern England’s Interplanetary Criminal, widely recognised as a leading figure in UK garage, joins as headliner on the strength of releases including the 2x Platinum “B.O.T.A. (Baddest Of Them All)” with Eliza Rose and collaborations with KETTAMA, Sammy Virji, and Gorgon City. British-Canadian DJ and producer Richie Hawtin, a three-time DJ Awards winner for Best Techno DJ and founder of Plus8 and Minus Records, rounds out the headline trio. Overtone will additionally feature Australian DJ and producer Mall Grab as a co-headliner, whose recent credits include a rework of Milky’s “Just The Way You Are.”
The supporting lineups draw from a broad international and local pool. Confirmed acts include Detroit-born, Atlanta-based DJ Ash Lauryn, Berghain-affiliated DJ Avalon Emerson, London DJ and radio figure Ben UFO, Berlin-based producers D. Dan and Freddy K, and Grammy-nominated American house music producer Ron Trent. Australian and local artists are well represented across all three events, with Melbourne/Naarm’s Bella Claxton and Hasvat Informant, Sydney/Eora’s Harry Hayes, Bundjalung DJ Mikalah Watego, Gunggandji/Wiradjuri DJ Jun Wan, and Melbourne/Naarm-born, London-based producer SWIM among those on the bill. UK duo Two Shell, known for blending UKG, post-dubstep, and techno, are also confirmed, alongside Call Super, Gi Gi FM, Ogazón, Memphis LK, Ned Bennett, Storm Mollison, and TWIENA.
Each festival carries its own distinct character. Overtone is described as raw and rave-inspired, while Freeform — co-presented by Crown Ruler — will span four stages and represents the event’s largest lineup to date. Mode positions itself around cutting-edge music, visuals, and design, making use of the heritage setting of Cockatoo Island. Exclusive additions per event include 6 SENSE, Eva Charley, LIZA, Ngaaru, SHIMMY, and Tori Pepper at Overtone; 2LUBLY, Crÿbaby, and Rakhi at Freeform; and alilia b2b anusha, Fuchsia, Jun Wan, KSMBA, and Obeido at Mode.
