Renaissance continues its run of carefully selected signings with REN26164, a collaborative debut from Spanish producers Yamil and Martin HERRS. The release marks the first time the two artists have appeared together on the iconic British label, bringing with them a shared reputation built on emotive, refined productions that have drawn support from Solomun, John Digweed, Black Coffee, Dixon, &ME, Rampa, and RÜFÜS DU SOL.
The centrepiece of the package is ‘Enta Houa’, a title drawn from Arabic meaning ‘You Are Him’ — a phrase the duo have cited as carrying deep personal significance. Constructed around a hypnotic, focused groove, the track builds methodically through layered tension and considered sound design before opening into what the label describes as a genuinely emotional peak. It is a dancefloor-oriented record that nonetheless carries clear emotional weight, reflecting the sensibility both producers have cultivated across their respective catalogues.
Completing the release is a reinterpretation from Mexican artist Mehill, whose credits include Innervisions, Just This, Systematic Recordings, and Exit Strategy. His version repositions the material as an energetic 4/4 cut aimed squarely at peak-time sets, offering a more direct and forceful reading of the original’s core elements. Together, the two versions present contrasting approaches to the same source material without either feeling out of place within the Renaissance aesthetic.
Founded in 1992, Renaissance has long been regarded as one of the defining institutions of British dance music, shaping the culture through its celebrated mix compilation series and international events programme. The label has maintained relevance across decades by balancing heritage with a consistent eye for contemporary talent, and REN26164 sits comfortably within that tradition.
