Munich-based producer Sonson, known professionally as Michael Heumann, returns to Lossless with a two-track EP led by ‘We Dance’, a collaboration with vocalist Rosa Taccarelli. The release marks his second outing on the imprint and represents Taccarelli’s first appearance on a recorded release.
The title track began as one of several ideas and sketches Heumann sent to Taccarelli, a longtime friend. From that initial exchange, ‘We Dance’ gradually took shape into the EP’s centrepiece — a hypnotic analogue house cut built around the warmth of a Roland Juno-106. The production goes deep while retaining the weight needed to hold a dancefloor, with Taccarelli’s vocals elevating the groove beyond a straight club tool. A separate instrumental version is also included, offering DJs additional flexibility when working the track into a set.
The EP’s second cut, ‘Faraway’, shifts the tone considerably. A chord-driven house track with what the premiere describes as proper edge, it rounds out the release by moving away from the hypnotic warmth of ‘We Dance’ and into more emotionally direct territory.
Heumann has been a fixture of Munich’s electronic music scene since the 2000s, with previous releases on Diynamic, Compost Records, and Eastern Standard sitting across his back catalogue. His sound has shifted over the years, though the instinct behind it has remained consistent throughout his output.
Lossless, the label founded by Mathias Schober and Thomas Herb, has built its catalogue around deep and timeless house music. The EP fits squarely within that identity, and with this release the imprint brings Heumann back for a second time following his earlier work on the label.
