Romanian producer Kidoo makes his debut on Sound D’Elite, the house-leaning imprint founded by Ilario Alicante, with a double A-side release featuring the tracks ‘Poem’ and ‘In Transit’. The release arrives as a premiere via When We Dip.
Based in Cluj, Kidoo has steadily built a reputation on a groove-driven sound positioned between house and minimal foundations. His catalogue includes releases on Solid Grooves, Cuttin’ Headz, COCO, Botani Q, and Mindshake, and his live schedule has taken him through DC10, Hi Ibiza, Amnesia, Sunwaves, and Caprices. A recent run of dates across the United States adds to a trajectory that has established him as one of the more prominent names to emerge from Romania in recent years.
The lead track, ‘Poem’, anchors the release with percussive, dubbed-out textures wrapped around a bassline built for extended play. Soft whispers and woozy digital hums move through the arrangement alongside a hint of 90s hip-hop nostalgia, lending the record a hypnotic, late-night quality that benefits from playback on a proper sound system. The second track, ‘In Transit’, shifts the register with slick vocals and warping sonics, while snappy snares push the energy forward and position it squarely within peak-time territory.
Sound D’Elite launched in 2024 as a platform for the groovier, housier dimension of Alicante’s musical output. The imprint has developed a clear identity in a short space of time, and Kidoo’s debut fits neatly within that framework. The double A-side is available to stream now, with the full premiere of ‘Poem’ hosted exclusively on When We Dip.
