Belgian producer Ari, who records under the name Ari Be, has released a new three-track EP titled Decide To Be on U.S.-based house label Vibe Me To The Moon. The label has previously released music from artists including Roland Clark, Franck Roger, Demarkus Lewis, and Fred Everything. The EP moves across deep house, minimal house, and deep-tech territory, with Ari describing the contrast between tracks as fully intentional — reflecting the range of atmospheres he navigates as a DJ.
The title carries personal weight for the Belgian producer. After spending years organizing events and supporting other artists, Ari made the decision in 2021 to step away from event promotion entirely and commit to music production full-time. He describes Decide To Be as the direct result of that shift — a release built around the idea of choosing yourself without waiting for the right moment. He cites a line from the film The Fifth Element — “Time is not important, only life is important” — as a philosophy that shaped the release.
Ari has been active in electronic music for close to two decades, beginning as a DJ and event organizer before gradually developing his production work. His music has appeared on labels including Whoyostro White, and his profile has grown steadily within European underground circles. Despite his years of activity, he notes that much of his studio output was set aside during his event promotion years — he still holds finished tracks dating back five to ten years, waiting only for final mix and mastering before release.
Speaking about his creative process, Ari says his music never begins with a genre in mind. Instead, each track starts from an emotion, a memory, or an imagined scene. He describes himself as naturally melancholic and highly sensitive, with creativity that arrives in waves — sometimes producing nothing for months, then writing multiple tracks in quick succession. He frames the three tracks on Decide To Be as chapters of a single journey: leaving something behind, accepting who you are, and reconnecting with what originally drew him to electronic music.
His background running events also informs how he thinks about production. Ari has spoken about his belief that what makes an event memorable is not simply the lineup, but atmosphere, concept, and detail — a sensibility he carries into the studio. His original motivation for producing music was to play his own tracks at the events he organized, though the demands of running both careers simultaneously meant his studio work consistently took a back seat until his 2021 decision to change course.
