Frank Biazzi has released Pulsion EP, his debut on Nicole Moudaber’s MOOD label, out May 22, 2026. The Belgian producer has been a working presence in techno since the late 1990s, building residencies at venues including Lagoa and earning early support from Carl Cox, Dave Clarke, and Christian Smith around his track „Turbulence.“ After stepping away from the scene in 2004 due to tinnitus, Biazzi returned in 2014 and has since placed records on Intec, Tronic, and Suara.
The three-track EP moves through distinct but connected territory. „Feel The Pressure“ opens with cavernous bass, rolling drums, twitchy synths, and whispered vocals. „Pulsion“ shifts into heavier, body-focused techno, and „Relax“ closes the record with rhythmic fundamentals, echoing claps, and a straightforward club function. Across all three tracks, the focus stays on groove, warmth, and dancefloor pressure rather than stylistic detours.
In a recent interview, Biazzi spoke candidly about the pressures facing working DJs and producers in the current booking climate. He acknowledged that dominant trends have always created external pressure to adapt, but said he has never been comfortable playing music that does not genuinely represent his identity. „I think people immediately feel when an artist genuinely loves the music they are playing, or when they are simply trying to fit into a mold,“ he said.
Biazzi pointed to artists including Danny Tenaglia, Laurent Garnier, Dave Clarke, and Jeff Mills as examples of longevity built on musical knowledge and authenticity rather than trend cycles. He described their ability to construct a real arc through a set as central to why they continue to be booked across generations. At the same time, he was direct about a problem he sees in contemporary booking practices, noting that too many promoters now prioritise DJs with large social media followings over experienced artists who have spent their careers developing musical culture and production craft.
On the question of balancing consistency with experimentation, Biazzi drew a clear line: different environments and crowds can inform and enrich an artist’s identity, but experimentation should never replace it. He described his approach to building a presence not as brand construction but as earning trust through music, performances, and long-term human connections. „In the long run, authenticity has more value than visibility,“ he said.
The Pulsion EP is available now on MOOD.
