Franco Schmidt lets the B-side do the damage on Hot Creations

Argentine DJ and producer Franco Schmidt makes his Hot Creations debut with the two-track Némesis EP, released on 25th September. The release marks a notable milestone, with Schmidt becoming the first Argentine artist to land a full EP on Jamie Jones’ label.

While the title track leads the package, it is the B-side, ‘Ecléctico’, that has drawn immediate attention. Built around a rolling low-end, tight percussion and a groove designed to deepen as the night progresses, the track keeps things lean and purposeful. There is no unnecessary clutter — just a focused club record that leaves plenty of room for a DJ to manoeuvre.

Schmidt has been steadily expanding his reach beyond Argentina, taking his sound into clubs across Colombia, Peru, Spain and Italy. Alongside his touring activity, he has been developing his own platform through Sugaro Music, where he has continued to refine a groove-led approach with the dancefloor as its primary reference point.

A placement on Hot Creations represents a significant step in that trajectory. The label, founded by Jamie Jones, has long been a home for house music with a strong club sensibility, and the Némesis EP fits squarely within that tradition. ‘Ecléctico’ in particular demonstrates why Schmidt’s name has been gaining traction — it is a track built for function, doing exactly what a late-night record needs to do without overstating its case.

The Némesis EP is available now via Hot Creations on Beatport.
