Richard Rogers developed an interest in music early in life, frequenting Rough Trade on Portobello Road as a teenager. He was drawn to punk, US garage, and heavier sounds.
Rogers‘ interest in dance music grew naturally from these influences. He became interested in Chicago and Detroit house records, London record shops, and the club culture of the early 1990s.
By approximately 1991, Rogers was purchasing dance records throughout central and south-east London. He was particularly interested in the deeper New York and London sounds that were circulating in the capital, as well as Ministry of Sound.
