Esse. brings ‘Stop Tonight’ to There Was Jack

Italian DJ and producer Esse. has delivered his debut release on There Was Jack with ‘Stop Tonight’, out on 12th June. The track marks another step forward for a project that has been building momentum since its launch in 2023, and slots naturally into a label known for keeping its focus squarely on the dancefloor.

Esse. developed his sound at the intersection of house and tech house, bringing enough melodic sensibility to distinguish his output from purely functional club tools. In a relatively short time, that approach has earned support from a notable roster of names including CASSIMM, Roger Sanchez, Mark Knight, and David Penn. Previous releases have appeared on Club Sweat, Kokolores Records, Let There Be House, and Cruise Music, steadily broadening his reach across the electronic music community.

‘Stop Tonight’ is constructed with DJ utility at its core. The drums are direct and purposeful, while the bassline carries a funk-driven roll that keeps the energy grounded. A spoken vocal element adds a late-night edge without disrupting the groove, and the break introduces measured tension before the track returns to its central house pressure. The result is a record that translates across a range of settings — basements, rooftops, and festival stages alike.

For There Was Jack, the release continues a run of catalogue additions that stay true to the label’s identity. Esse. is premiering the track via Data Transmission, and ‘Stop Tonight’ is available now on Beatport.
