COSTA Makes His Deadbeats Debut With Wonky New Single ‘Dimension’

COSTA has made his debut on Zeds Dead’s Deadbeats imprint with “Dimension,” a new original single that marks a significant step forward in the New York-born producer’s transition from remix culture to original studio output.

The track is built around sharp contrasts. Laser-cut arpeggiators and soaring synth lines form a clean melodic foundation before the production shifts into wonky bass, deep wubs, and heavy low-end pressure. COSTA moves the arrangement between polished melodic passages and more abrasive bursts of dubstep rather than sustaining sheer force throughout, giving “Dimension” enough range to function both as a festival tool and a standalone listening experience.

That structural balance reflects a sound COSTA has been refining since first gaining traction through flips and reworks. His remixes of records from Timbaland, Tove Lo, and Selena Gomez helped push his SoundCloud catalog past five million streams within its first year. Those numbers drew support from Excision, Subtronics, Crankdat, Levity, ALLEYCVT, and Zeds Dead — the latter connection now materializing in a formal label relationship through Deadbeats.

The release comes as COSTA continues building a live presence across the bass circuit. Recent appearances have included Red Rocks, Bonnaroo, Electric Forest’s Honeycomb stage, and Forbidden Kingdom, where his afternoon set reached capacity. He also previously appeared at Splash House. Upcoming dates include Subtronics’ Cyclops Cove and Suwannee Hulaween, keeping him active on the road through the fall.

Still, “Dimension” carries weight primarily as a studio statement. The track’s melodic builds generate anticipation without dulling the impact of its drops, while the detailed bass programming and head-nodding grooves give it enough movement to hold up outside of a live context. For a producer who built his early following through other people’s music, the Deadbeats debut offers a clearer picture of what an original COSTA record sounds like on its own terms.

Landing on Deadbeats adds a meaningful co-sign to COSTA’s original material at a moment when the momentum behind his name is accelerating. The imprint, run by Zeds Dead, has established itself as one of the more respected homes in bass music, and the placement signals that COSTA’s development as a producer is being taken seriously beyond streaming metrics and festival bookings.
