Breakaway Carolina is back, and the 2026 edition is shaping up to be the most ambitious version of the Charlotte festival yet. Organisers have confirmed a 36-artist lineup for the two-day event, returning to zMAX Dragway at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina on September 25–26.
The Breakaway Music Festival portfolio has been running the Carolina edition since 2017, and festival president Jarrod Fucci made clear that the team is not coasting on familiarity. “Each year we’ve looked for ways to build on the experience, and 2026 represents the biggest leap forward we’ve ever taken,” he said. “We’re excited to deliver our largest Breakaway Carolina to date and welcome fans back for another unforgettable weekend this fall.”
Headlining duties fall to Tiësto and Chris Lake, two names that need little introduction but represent very different corners of the electronic music world. Tiësto has been making headlines recently for revisiting the trance sound that first made him a household name, giving his set a potentially nostalgic edge. Chris Lake, meanwhile, has spent years cementing himself as one of the most consistent forces in house music, and his presence at Breakaway Carolina continues a run of high-profile festival appearances.
Beyond the headliners, the bill leans heavily into house in its many forms. Rising US tech house act Westend is on the card alongside J. Worra, who built her reputation through the Dirtybird camp, and Kettama, a producer whose sound pulls from hard house, UK garage, and speed garage. Brazilian tech house standout Beltran and melodic house favourite Cassian round out a house-leaning portion of the lineup that gives fans plenty of stylistic range across the two days.
Bass music is equally well represented. Atlanta-based experimental artist Daily Bread brings his forward-thinking approach to the bill, joined by UK producer Hamdi and Mongolian-British bass house talent Taiki Nulight. Troy Boi, who has been operating in the cerebral trap space for well over a decade, also appears, offering something a little more left-field for attendees willing to explore beyond the main stages.
One of the more distinctive features of this year’s lineup is a series of back-to-back sets that add a collaborative dimension to the programming. Chasewest and Discip will share the decks, as will Cloonee and Chris Lorenzo — a pairing that puts two artists with deep house roots together in what should be a natural fit. DREYA V and Cole Knight round out the b2b announcements, giving the festival a format that rewards fans who dig deeper into the schedule rather than camping at the headline stages all weekend.
Tickets go on presale Monday, June 22, with general on-sale opening the following day, Tuesday, June 23. Early access registration is available through Hive. For a festival that has grown steadily since its Charlotte debut nearly a decade ago, the 2026 edition is clearly being positioned as a statement moment — 36 artists, a diverse cross-section of electronic music, and a venue that has hosted the event long enough to feel like a genuine home.
