DJ Sun has returned to OTIUM with Para Social Activity, a four-track EP released on June 5, 2026. The project spans „Seen,“ „Unseen,“ „Infinity Scroll,“ and the title track, each engaging with themes of parasocial connection, digital perception, and the way artist identity gets shaped by what audiences capture, edit, and project back onto the person making the music.
The concept is grounded in DJ Sun’s own trajectory. His path into electronic music began through illegal raves in Switzerland, an experience he describes not in terms of crowds dancing but in terms of people staying until sunrise, helping build the setup, and returning each time. That foundation eventually led to him building his own events and founding the OTIUM collective in 2018. The EP draws on hip-hop, jazz, house, and club-focused techno, with fragmented vocals and digital textures that connect directly to the scrolling, feedback loops, and blurred boundaries the project examines.
Speaking about the moment his music began reaching people beyond the dancefloor, DJ Sun pointed back to those early illegal rave years in Switzerland. The resonance he noticed was not about dancefloor energy alone but about the sustained commitment of the people around those events. On the question of influence, he acknowledged that people have told him sets changed how they approach music or prompted them to start producing, though he was measured about it: „I do not over-romanticize it. I think we are all part of the same loop.“
On the role DJs play in shaping collective memory, DJ Sun described the work as managing tension and release in real time, shaping how a room feels minute by minute. He was clear that the result cannot be forced but can be guided when sound, space, and people connect in the right context.
When asked about meaningful contributions made outside of recognition, DJ Sun pointed to the work of building OTIUM and staging events in unconventional locations — under bridges, in forests, and in raw spaces not originally intended for music. He also highlighted the value of creating environments where the focus shifts toward the music itself rather than the name behind the decks. „Those moments feel as important as anything else,“ he said.
On sustaining community involvement alongside creative growth, DJ Sun described staying active across multiple roles — playing, organizing, supporting releases, and creating opportunities for others. He framed it as a deliberate balance: giving without burning out, taking without disconnecting.
With Para Social Activity, DJ Sun uses the tools and textures of contemporary club music to examine something that now runs through all of it — the gap between the room and the feed, and what gets lost or distorted in between.
